How long does it take to get test results back?

Test scores vary in the amount of time need for the results to come back.  The average wait time for most tests is 6-8 weeks.  If you need to take ACT or SAT for commissioning programs please plan to take your test several months before you need the results.  If you need the results for college admissions please take the test no more than 2 years prior to but no later than 2 semesters prior to college enrollment.

While ACT and SAT values your service, your test will not be score before the test taken nationwide by high schools seniors.

How do I get copies of my results?

Each examinee will automatically receive a copy of his/her ACT/SAT test results* at the mailing address provided during test registration.  If the examinee codes his/her ACT/SAT test registration properly a copy of the test will also come to MCAS Miramar’s Education Office and will be maintained for one year.  If you need additional copies of results you will have to check with each agency individually to obtain official or non-official copies.

*note – AFCT (ASVAB), DLAB, DLPT and GCT scores are entered in the Total Forces System automatically by your service component.  Scores can be viewed after 4-5 weeks through your personnel records.

What should I do if I don’t get the score I need ACT/SAT?

If you did not score high enough on the ACT contact your school or agency to see if you can substitute a SAT score or vice verse. Students are encouraged to study several months prior to taking either test.

Are there prep courses or tutors available at the Education Center?

The Education Center does not offer tutors however tutors are available through San Diego Community College’s Continuing Education program for Math and English in addition to academic tests:  ACT/SAT/GRE/GMAT and Military Classification test:  AFCT (ASVAB).  Students are encouraged to use study books through the base and public libraries.

The Education Office offers a self-paced computer program designed to increase Math and English skills.  Enrollments are offered Wednesday mornings at 0730.  Please call or email to schedule.

How often can I retake tests?

Most tests, including military classification tests, require at least a 180 day time lapse before the test can be administered a second time.  The SAT test can only be taken on base once per fiscal year unless the student request an alternate test prior to the test date.
