> CCME SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE! The Council of College and Military Educators (CCME) is offering scholarships to U.S. service members or their spouses who are working towards the completion of higher education degrees. Each award is in the amount of $500 and may be used for tuition, fees, books and other expenses encountered by the student pursuing educational goals. All applicants must submit their application (a link for online submission is below), and an essay.

> DO YOU NEED POST 9/11 G.I. BILL ASSISTANCE? Do you want to gain further understanding of the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill? Do you have unanswered questions about education benefits? The MCAS Miramar Education Center will be hosting Post 9/11 G.I. Bill Info Sessions at Bldg. 5305 "The HUB" in one of our designated classrooms every Monday and Thursday at 1130. ABOUT THE EDUCATION CENTER
Whether you're finishing up or just getting started, the Education Center has innumerable ways for you to reach your educational goals. The Education Center includes classrooms in which local colleges teach a wide range of courses. The Center currently offers programs at the certificate, associates, bachelors and masters levels. They also proctor exams such as Military Classification Tests, the CLEP, SAT and ACT. The staff is highly in tune with the demands of military life and has developed several programs that enable military personnel to advance educationally in spite of obstacles. The programs include courses via the internet, SMART transcripts and the Military Apprenticeship Program. In addition to all of these programs and courses, the Education Center has knowledgeable and helpful staff on hand to answer questions and provide valuable information concerning your educational interests. So, whether you want to earn a degree or simply gain a new skill, the Education Center offers flexible and effective ways to further your goals and maximize your time.
The Education Center is located at the Hub with the Library and the Career Resource Center and provides services to active duty, retired and military family members. Academic Testing
The national test center at MCAS Miramar offers the fastest and least expensive way to gain college credits. The National University provides free CLEP & DANTES examinations to active duty military. This service is located in the Education Center and although reservations are not required, they are encouraged. Please contact National University at (619) 563-7355. Study guides are available at the Education Center or can be found at: https://intranet.miramar.nmci.usmc.mil/edoffice
Just log onto the site from your work (.mil) computer.
Or Non-service members can pay for study guides by logging onto http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/about.html.
The Education Center also offers the GED practice exam, ASE certification tests and many additional testing services. Call (858) 577-1801/1895 for test times.
Test proctoring services for distant education are offered to active duty, retired service members and their families. Appointments are necessary and can be made either in person or by calling (858) 577-1801. No test will be administered after 1400 Monday thru Thursday or after 1100 on Friday without appointment. Please remember the name of the person that is your test proctor and the type of test you are taking. (i.e. paper test or computer test)
Students are strongly encourage to:
- Be on time and keep appointments.
- Avoid waiting until the last minute to take exams.
- Check before test time to ensure that exams or passwords have arrived.
- Notify the Education Office if you can’t make your scheduled appointment*.
*Habitually late or no show students will be scheduled at the convenience of the test proctors.

For college and distance education exams individuals are responsible for contacting the Education Center. Exams not taken within 30 days of receipt will be returned.

Military Classification and Language Testing
Marines may take these Military Classification Exams only at a Marine Test Site. Army, Navy, and Air Force Service members should contact their service for testing locations.

(1) Service Members only may test.
(2) Active duty and active reservists only may test for free*.
(*Civilians and family member can test at a cost when applicable.)
General rules and information for testing
• Units having special group testing needs should contact the Education Office at
(858) 577-1801.
• Individuals in uniform must have their military ID.
• Individuals not in uniform must have two forms of picture ID.
While we can accept walk-ins on the morning of academic or military testing it is strongly encouraged to schedule test in advance. Testing regulations restrict group size to no more than 15 examinees for each test examiner. In order to schedule and meet the needs of groups exceeding 15 examinees it will be necessary to task additional staff to support the activity in compliance with testing regulations. There will be no late or overflow seating. Appointments can be made by phone or via email.
No examinee is guaranteed a testing spot unless he/she receives a confirmation letter from that day’s examiner. All E-5 or below are required to provide the name and email address for their Staff Non-Commission Officers (SNCO) or Officer in Charge (OIC) when requesting test. On the morning of each test date examinees will be seated in the following order:
Scheduled
Stand-by (not to exceed 3 individuals)
Walk-ins (in order of arrival)
Distant education students wishing to use MCAS Miramar Education Office as their test center are required to complete the proctor request form from the drop menu at the top of the website located under Military-Related Forms. Completed proctor request forms can be emailed or faxed.

Military Tuition Assistance (TA)
The Education Center can only provide TA for Marines and Sailors. First time TA users, regardless of rank, must attend College 101 prior to being authorized TA. College 101 is offered every Wednesday and Friday 1130-1230 at the Education Center. Unit briefs given in the work space are available, schedule permitting, for groups of ten or larger
(no exceptions).
