If you, or your family member receives tuition assistance, or is a MyCAA recipient, you are encouraged to submit feedback by clicking [ here ].  

Feedback topics include but are not limited to; recruiting and marketing practices, quality of education, accreditation, grade policy, financial issues (example: tuition and fee charges), release of transcripts, student loans, transfer of credits, post-graduation job opportunities, refund or collection issues, change in degree plan and requirements, etc.


  Current Briefing Schedule  

• College 101 - every Wednesday and Friday @ 1130
• GI Bill briefs are given by the VA every other Thursday
• One-on-one counseling is available for help with financial aid, including FAFSA, CA state benefits, and scholarships.
Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.

  Education Counseling  

Whether you are searching for a career, degree program, or school that fits your needs, education specialists can assist you. They will provide resources such as self-assessments, websites, and tools to help you make the best decisions to achieve your goals. They also have points of contact with school representatives across the country. The Education Center offers walk-in and scheduled appointments to all active duty, veterans, reservists, and family members.

Unit education briefs are available upon request.
  Tuition Assistance  

Tuition Assistance is allocated and funded by quarter.
• Q1 – 10/01 – 12/31
• Q2 – 01/01 – 03/31
• Q3 – 04/01 – 06/30
• Q4 – 07/01 – 09/30

Funding is limited to classes that begin during the quarter.
Once funding for the quarter has been exhausted, no more TA can be approved for that quarter. TA funding will become available again at the start of the next quarter.

Submit WebTA applications at: https://myeducation.netc.navy.mil/consentbanner.html up to 30 days in advance of the class start date to ensure the best chance of funding.

Example:
A class starts January 15. A Marine can submit for TA on December 15, but the TA will not be approved until January 1.

Activating Benefits

Transferring Benefits

Marines using the Post 9/11 have the ability to transfer education benefits. Please note that Transfer of Post-9/11 GI-Bill Benefits to Dependents (TEB) is a retention tool, and you may be required to re-enlist or extend to transfer your benefits.

  Testing  

The Education Center offers various tests to include Military Classification Testing, DANTES sponsored exams, distance learning tests, and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) test. Find important testing information and the schedule

  Military Academic Skills Program (MASP)  

(MASP) is a skills enhancing program that focuses on English, Math, and Communication skills. This program can be used to help with tests such as TABE, AFCT/ASVAB, SAT, ACT, and preparing for college. This is not an ASVAB/ AFCT prep course. San Diego Community College District provides this course at no cost to attendees.

  Colleges & Universities at Miramar  

Central Texas College

2-year Texas Public School offering various Associate Degrees. CTC offers courses via classroom, Internet, and CD ROM.  CTC also provides CD and other courses to deployed units.

San Diego Miramar College

Contact: (858) 536-4329                                               
2-year California Public School offering Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs. Classes are offered in class and online. Affordable in-state fees are charged to military and spouses stationed in CA.

National University
                                   
Contact: (619) 563-7355                                               
4-year Private (non-profit) university offering Undergraduate and Graduate Degrees. Coursework can be done online, or at various locations throughout San Diego area. NU provides upper division (3rd and 4th year level) courses in class on MCAS Miramar.

Visiting Schools – Educational Institutions are no longer having visiting hours aboard MCAS Miramar. If you would like to speak to a specific institution regarding enrollment or you are a current student and need to contact a representative, please contact the Education Center at (858) 577-1801 to set up an appointment.
  Financial Aid  

In addition to Tuition Assistance, there are many opportunities to fund your education to include Grants, Scholarships, Loans, and other programs. The Education Office provides monthly workshops, counseling, and resources.

  Classroom/ Miramar Room Reservations  

All classroom and Miramar Room requests must be submitted to the Education Office. Classrooms are authorized on a space available basis. Please call (858) 577-1801, or email us for reservations. Please provide a good point of contact in order to receive an email notification to confirm your scheduled classroom.
