> 1ST QUARTER TUITION ASSITANCE (TA) FUNDS EXHAUSTED
MCAS Miramar cannot process any more TA applications for this quarter. We recommend that Marines submit their TA applications NOW for classes starting in the 2nd quarter (Jan 1 - Mar 31). Be aware that MCAS Miramar has instituted a 1 class at a time, with a maximum of 2 classes per quarter policy, to allow more Marines the opportunity to utilize TA.
> A TUITION ASSISTANCE UPDATE The Miramar Education Center has just been informed that a meeting will take place on December 2nd between the Headquarters Marine Corps, Personal and Professional Development staff and their financial management group to determine whether or not tuition assistance can be approved in the second quarter of FY14.
Because the current Congressional Continuing Resolution is effective only until January 15th and due to the lack of an FY14 appropriation, there may not be a legal standing to authorize TA for classes that begin after January 15th. Additionally, it is unclear whether if there will be money to authorize TA from January 1st to 15th. We will continue to provide updates as we know more however; all TA users should plan for the possibility that their classes may not be funded in January.
As a reminder, the Miramar Education Center provides a financial aid brief every Tuesday @ 1130 in Bldg 5305 (The Hub), Classroom #4. Please feel free to contact us here at the Education Center at 577-1801 if you have any questions.
