LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAMS
Interested in learning how to swim? MCCS Miramar offers various Learn-To-Swim programs for all ages and every level. We offer group lessons, where children can learn various swimming techniques. We offer one-on-one private swimming lessons that are appropriate for all ages and levels. We offer advanced swimming skills, which is like an introduction to swim team where students learn specific techniques for each stroke. And lastly, we offer a junior lifeguarding program called GuardStart. Please see the links below for more information.
GROUP SWIM LESSON INFORMATION
REGISTRATION
All registration will be at the 50-Meter Pool (Bldg. 2395). Registration will be held Monday-Saturday, from 1000-1800. The registration dates and times are listed below.

**Please consult with a swim instructor before enrolling your child in classes. Space is limited and switching classes last minute is difficult.
COST
$30 per session, per child.
**Please note, there is a $10 administrative fee for refunds.
INSTRUCTORS
All MCCS Miramar swim lesson instructors are certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. They teach using the American Red Cross guidelines.
CLASSES
Classes will meet Monday-Thursday for two weeks, for 30-minutes each day. Parents are welcome to observe their children from the designated area. Lesson plans include: placement tests, water safety instruction, water instruction and instructor’s evaluation.
“Show-Off Day” will be conducted on the last class meeting of each session. Parents bring your cameras! Class Dates and times are listed below:

Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills
Level 1 will help the students to become and feel comfortable in the water. Students will learn to fully submerge, and blow bubbles under water. They become comfortable floating on the front and back, and can also demonstrate swimming motions while supported. Lastly, students learn the purpose of safety equipment.
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills
Level 2 will help students continue to increase confidence in the water. Students learn to demonstrate aquatic independence by entering and exiting the water on their own. They can also demonstrate swimming on the front and back while unsupported.
Pre-requisites: The student must possess a Level 1 certificate, or the student must be able to demonstrate all completion requirements for Level 1.
Level 3: Stroke Development
Level 3 introduces the students to deep-water swimming. The students demonstrate a head first entry from the side of the pool. They can also demonstrate rotary breathing, and deep-water floating on the front and back. Lastly, the students can demonstrate enough endurance to swim 15 yards on their front and back.
Pre-requisites: The student must posses a Level 2 certificate, or the student must be able to demonstrate all completion requirements of Level 2.
Level 4: Stroke Improvement
In Level 4, students demonstrate various dives from the side of the pool. Students also can swim three body lengths under water. They demonstrate stroke endurance by swimming 15-25 yards of the four core strokes. Students may also learn the basic rescue techniques to assist a distressed swimmer.
Pre-requisites: Student must possess a Level 3 certificate, or the student must be able to demonstrate all completion requirements of Level 3.
Level 5: Stroke Refinement
In Level 5, students swim distances of 25-50 yards using the four core strokes. Students can also demonstrate survival swimming, tuck and pike dives, flip turns, and other advanced swimming techniques.
Pre-requisites: Student must possess a Level 4 certificate, or the student must be able to demonstrate all completion requirements of Level 4.
