The goal of the Life Skills Program under the direction of the Marine Corps Family Team Building division is to provide personal development curricula that promotes the well being of Marines and their families.
Life Skills achieves this goal by targeting three main areas of the Marine warrior: Family Life, Individual Enhancement, and Leadership Development.
The Life Skills current curriculum course offerings are as follows: Family Care Plan, Elderly Care, Communicating after Deployment, and The Four Lenses Personality workshop.
Class course offering descriptions:
Family Care Plan:
The “Family Care Plan” brief is available to help deployable Marines and their spouses with the medical, legal, financial and logistical planning in the event of a family emergency. Personal or Group Briefings are available to all service members and spouses to assist with their plans.
Elder Care:
This “Elder Care” brief is available to educate warriors who are caring for elderly adults. This brief aids in the understanding of common medical and social issues.
Communicating After Deployment:
“Communicating After Deployment” is available to assist with re-establishing lines of communication between a warrior and his or her spouse after a deployment. Discussing domestic roles, learning how one’s spouse communicates and expresses their need for love, and healthy ways of expressing anger are all discussed.
Four Lenses:
Four lenses teaches warriors and their families about various personality types and how to work in a team or family unit with each respective type.
