BENCH PRESS WALL RULES
Each contestant must provider their own spotter.
Each Contestant must schedule a time with a trainer to perform the lift. A Power arch is permitted, but the glutes and upper back/shoulders MUST stay in contact with the bench at all times. No gloves or straps or bench press shirts. Wraps may not touch the bar. Feet must remain stationary throughout the lift.
Athletes begin with the “Bar Ready” command. Judges will look for a “Show of Control” in which the bar and the body must be completely still.
After the “Press” command the athlete must press in one continual motion to a full lockout. (We will allow for a soft lockout). Wait for the “Rack” signal. A spotter may be allowed to help rack the weight after the “Rack” signal is given.
There is no bouncing the bar off the chest. Excessive uneven bars or touching the uprights will be judged as a bad lift. Download a Bench Press Rules Word doc by clicking here. Download a Competition Form by clicking here. ALL RULINGS ARE FINAL. ARGUING WITH THE TRAINER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
