MCAS MIRAMAR SWIMMING POOL RULES

The MCAS Miramar Aquatic Staff wishes to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage.
To ensure your safety while at our facility, we encourage you to read and familiarize
yourself with our safety rules.

All MCAS Miramar Aquatic Staff will be obeyed at all times, and for the safety of patrons, have the right to suspend privileges of individuals who repeatedly violate the rules and regulations of this facility.

• Do not enter the pool or swim while a lifeguard is NOT ON DUTY.

• Please do not talk to or interact with lifeguards ON DUTY.

• Military ID cards are required to enter the facility at all times:

*** Children 9 years and younger must always be escorted and directly supervised by an adult or responsible person over 18 years of age.

*** Children who pass the swim test must present and a leave a MCCS Miramar Swim Card at the front desk upon entering and pick it up upon leaving the facility.

*** Children who are 10-17 years and older and have passed the swim test, may use the pool without an adult as long as they present their MCCS Miramar Swim Card and a proper Military ID upon entering the facility.

***NOTE: All non-swimmers must be accompanied and directly supervised, within arms reach, of an adult at all times while within the facility.

• Appropriate swim wear and sun bathing attire required. Shorts or suits not made for swimming will not be permitted. 

• No physical training gear is allowed during open hours. Fatigues may be worn without boots or any other training gear, during lap swim hours only.

• No running within the facility at any time.

• Cleansing showers must be taken before entering the pool.

• Keep ladders and handrails clear at all times.

• NO DIVING IN LESS THAN 9 FEET OF WATER. This includes the lap lanes and shallow end. Back dives are not permitted.

• Rough horseplay will not be tolerated including shoulder rides, acrobatics, excessive splashing, dunking, lift outs, or disturbing other patrons.

• Soft, water polo type balls provided by the facility may be used. In the event of overcrowding, usage of water polo balls will be restricted as a safety measure.

• Only Coast Guard Approved Flotation Devices  are permitted in the main pool.

• Glass in any form will not be permitted anywhere in the aquatic facility.

• Food and drinks are permitted behind the red perimeter line around the pool deck only. Eating and drinking will not be permitted in the pool or locker rooms.

• Alcohol will not be permitted at any time within the facility. All MCCS Miramar Aquatic Staff have the right to suspend privileges of individuals who may be under the influence of alcohol.

• Smoking will not be permitted at any time within the facility.

• Profanity will not be tolerated at any time.

DIVING

• One person at a time on the diving board. The next person in line must wait at the foot of the ladder.

• The diver before you must get to the wall and clear the water before you may dive.

• Diving off the diving board with anything that covers your eyes is not permitted.

• No running on the diving boards.

• All dives must be performed facing the water. No back dives or back flips are permitted.

• The diving well is for diving board use only. Please do not throw diving toys into the diving well.

WADING POOL

• NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY IN THIS AREA. Parents are responsible for their children in the wading pool and fenced area.

• Please keep the gate closed at all times.

• Only children 6 years and younger are permitted in the wading pool.

• Inflatable type devices are allowed in the wading pool. Training equipment, provided by MCCS, will not be permitted in the wading pool.

• Children who are not toilet trained must wear plastic pants at all times. Disposable swimming diapers are permitted in the wading pool.

• If a child defecates in the pool, please exit the water and notify a lifeguard immediately.

LAP LANES

• No hanging on ropes or lane lines.

• Masks, snorkels and fins may be used in the lap lanes and for training purposes only. Children who have passed the swim test may use this equipment while under close supervision of an adult, 18 years or older.

• Kickboards and pull-buoys are available for swimming lessons and training and may only be used in the lap lanes, and for training purposes only.

• Counter-clockwise swimming is required when sharing a lane with three or more people.

• Do not swim through the lap lanes.

POOL BREAKS

• Pool breaks are held on an hourly basis.

• All swimmers, except lap swimmers, must exit the pool at the lifeguard’s direction. 

• Any person under the age of 18, who is not participating in lap swim exercise, must exit the pool for the pool break.

• Please remain behind the red perimeter line until the breaks are over.
