The Youth Center has something for everyone under 18: The Part Day Preschool Program for 3 to 5 year olds, the School Age Care Program for Kindergarten - 6th grade. The Teen Center for 7th - 12th grade, and the Youth Program that offers sports teams and other specialized programs for kids of all ages.
> OUR HOURLY CAREPROGRAM is for children ages 6 weeks through Pre-K. This program is offered to Parent/Guardians who need a few hours at the gym, have a medical appointment, need to do some grocery shopping or just need a break. Active Duty stationed at Miramar, Camp Pendleton, and MCRD can reserve a spot up to 2 weeks in advance. All others can call 24 hours in advance to check for availability. A maximum of 12 hours per week, maximum 6 hours per day per child is allowed. The cost is $5.00 an hour or $1.25 for every 15 minutes per child. The indoor environment is organized with learning centers in the areas of: Dramatic Play, Arts & Crafts, Manipulative Play and Construction. The outdoor area consists of a variety of age-appropriate toys.
> THE STUDENT TO STUDENT PROGRAM
The Student 2 Student Initiative includes the high school Student 2 Student (S2S) and the middle school Junior Student 2 Student (JS2S)programs. Each meets very real transitioning student needs with:
Immediate peer credibility
Positive peer relationships
Valued information
A team from a school campus is trained to return to their home campus to provide leadership for training other students on methods to support students who are transitioning to or from their school. The team is composed of advisors and students. The focus is student-centered, and is student-led, with close supervision. The development of student trainers who can return to their home campus to train other peers is critical to the success and credibility of the program. [ more ]

> THE EXCELLENCE IN YOUTH SPORTS AWARD Our Youth Sports Program is a recipient of a 2010 Excellence in Youth Sports Award, presented by the National Alliance of Youth Sports (NAYS). NAYS received applications from all over the world and chose 25 for the final round of applications. Of the 25, five deserving programs were chosen for an Excellence in Youth Sports Award and we were one of them. Miramar Youth Sports was presented an Excellence in Youth Sports Award during the NAYS Youth Sports Congress in conjunction with the Athletic Business Conference & Expo, December 1-4, 2010 in San Diego, CA. The Before and After School Program This program
is designed for youth between Kindergarten - 6th grade. It's National After school Association (NAA) accredited Organized and supervised activities include:
Homework help, crafts, games, sports, music and dance, library activities, movie theater, science and computer.
Enrichment classes vary and include tae kwon do, tap, ballet and cheer.
Optional transportation is available before and after school to local schools.
The program fee is based on family income.
Winter, spring, summer and fall camps are also available.
The Part-Day Preschool Program is offered to children ages 3-5 and potty-trained.
Hours are: M-W-F: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm / T-TH: 9 am - Noon. Program fee based on family income.
Each counselor is trained, qualified and dedicated to caring for your child.

Miramar Youth Sports are designed to encourage sportsmanship, working with others to attain a common goal and to help develop skills in many team sports. To that extent, we offer:

Registration ends January 6, 2012 $50.00 per child.

Miramar Youth Sports is open to the dependents of ALL active duty military, reservists, retired military, and DOD employed civilians in ALL areas. (Schedule and age divisions are subject to change.)

The Teen Center
This center
is available for all active duty, retired and DOD family members from 7th - 12th grade. They are affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club of America, which allows them to participate in their programs and activities. The Teen Center has state-of-the-art computers to help with homework or just for enjoyment. There are pool and foosball tables, video games, contests, Xbox gaming, DVD and big-screen TV and more. The Center offers opportunities to satisfy community service and volunteer hour requirements. In addition, they offer:
Shuttle service to and from Wangenheim Middle School and Mira Mesa High School for a cost of $45 per month
Field trips to entertainment parks and plays
Community service projects, fund raisers and discussions
Homework help and tutoring
Boys & Girls Club programs: Smart Girls, Passport to Manhood, Keystone Club
Open Recreation Saturday (excluding Federal Holidays) Kindergarten - 12th grade, from 1300-1800.
