  Welcome to the Youth & Teen Center  
 

The Youth Center has something for everyone under 18: The Part Day Preschool Program for 3 to 5 year olds, the School Age Care Program for 5 to 12 year olds, the Teen Center for 12 to 17 year olds, and the Youth Program that offers sports teams and other specialized programs for kids of all ages. The Youth Center has recently been re-accredited by the National Afterschool Association for the Education.

THE MIRAMAR TEEN CITY KEYSTONE CLUB

Gold Level Award

We are pleased to announce that the Miramar Teen City Keystone Club has been recognized as Gold Charter Level members.

Requirements for this:

*Charter application w/membership roster and Annual program description

*Entry into National Keystone Awards Program

*Conduct National Keystone Project
“Young America Acts... Can You See Us Now?”
To help dispel the negative stereotypes of teens by adults
and the media

*Participate in the President’s Volunteer Service Award program

*Attend a past National, Regional, or Local Keystone Conference

*Advisor must make quarterly postings
on the Keystone Internet Community

*Completion of Annual Marketing Forms

According to the list provided by BGCA of all the chartered Keystone Clubs,
The MCCS Miramar Keystone Club is the ONLY Keystone Club
in the Marine Corps to achieve Gold Charter Level status.

This goal could not have been achieved without the determination of our awesome teens and their wonderful Keystone Advisor

Clip Box Tops for Youth

It's called Box Tops for Education, and it means money for Miramar Youth Activities. The General Mills "Clip" program makes it simple to help the Miramar Youth Center. Make a difference each time you go to the grocery store by purchasing your favorite participating General Mills Box Tops products (see picture at left). Clip Box Tops coupons from hundreds of General Mills products. Turn in your Box Tops coupons to the Youth Center, which will send them to General Mills. General Mills will pay the Youth Center 10¢ for each Box Tops coupon redeemed. The Youth Center can earn up to $20,000 per year through Clip! Click here to learn more.

The Before and After School Program is designed for youth between 5 and 12 years old. It's National Afterschool Association (NAA) accredited Organized and supervised activities include:

  1. Homework help, crafts, games, sports, music and dance, library activities, movie theater, science and computer.
  2. Enrichment classes vary and include tae kwon do, tap, ballet and cheer.
  3. Optional transportation is available before and after school to local schools.
  4. The program fee is based on family income.

The Part-Day Preschool Program is offered to children ages 3-5 and potty-trained.
Hours are: M-W-F: 8:30 am – 12:30 pm / T-TH: 9 am – Noon. Program fee based on family income.

Before and After School Programs are available, as well as winter, spring, summer and fall camps. Each counselor is trained, qualified and dedicated to caring for your child. A computer lab is open for students and homework help is available daily.



MIRAMAR YOUTH SPORTS

Miramar Youth Sports are designed to encourage sportsmanship, working with others to attain a common goal and to help develop skills in many team sports. To that extent, we offer:

• Trained and certified volunteer Youth Sports Coaches
• Individual programs and sports events for ages 3 to 18.

SOCCER

SPRING SOCCER LEAGUE : Season Runs 15 March - 10 May, 2008 • Last Day to Sign-Up: 29 February

Miramar Youth Sports Start Smart Program prepares children age 3 for organized soccer in a FUN non-threatening environment.  Allows children the opportunity to work one-on-one with a parent, teaches children a variety of soccer skills including: dribbling, kicking and passing, trapping, and throw-ins and agility.  This program meets for 6 weeks, one day per week for one hour.  The special part of this program includes FUN, SAFE, and DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE EQUIPMENT.

AGES: 4-18 YEARS SOCCER $45.00 INCLUDES- JERSEY, SHORTS, SOCKS, PICTURES AND TROPHY 8 games-18 practice days (Mon-Weds or Tues-Thurs)

Miramar Youth Sports Program provides the opportunity to have fun and enjoyment in a youth sports organization. To give opportunities to develop lifetime leisure skills and to help youth with physical development by, teaching fundamental and safe sports skills appropriate for their age.  Also to help our youth develop socially by learning cooperation and sportsmanship, offering opportunities to learn independence and the importance of teamwork.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A VALID PHYSICAL.

SOCCER COACHES WANTED: Meeting 1 March, 2008 @ 0900

Miramar Youth Sports is looking for volunteer soccer coaches for our upcoming Spring season, starting 15 MAR - 10 MAY, 2008. If you would like to spend some of your time teaching children the fundamentals of soccer and have fun doing it, come down to the Miramar Youh Center and sign up today!

The Teen Center is available for all active duty, retired and DOD family members ages 13 - 18. They are affiliated with the Boys & Girls Club of America, which allows them to participate in their programs and activities. The Teen Center has state-of-the-art computers to help with homework or just for enjoyment. There are pool and foosball tables, video games, contests, Xbox gaming, DVD and big-screen TV and more. The Center offers opportunities to satisfy community service and volunteer hour requirements. In addition, they offer:

  1. Shuttle service to and from Wangenheim Middle School, Marshall Middle School and Mira Mesa High School for a cost of $25 per month
  2. Field trips to entertainment parks and plays
  3. Community service projects, fundraisers and discussions
  4. Homework help and tutoring
  5. Boys & Girls Club programs: Smart Girls, Passport to Manhood, Keystone Club

All classes are open to dependents of all Active Duty military, reservists, retirees and DOD civilians.
There is an annual registration fee ($25). Students may register at any time during the month (classes will be pro-rated). Child MUST be a registered member to participate in any of our Child, Youth & Teen programs. Annual registration fee is $25 first child/$35 multi-family.
