Event at Camp Lejeune Focuses on Suicide Prevention and Wellness

Marines, Sailors, and civilians met at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune April 16-18 for the 2024 Suicide Prevention Wellness Symposium. 

The symposium, which is held each year in a different geographical region, focused on wellness and fitness as prevention, and topics included Marine Corps Total Fitness, Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) center, Integrated Prevention, and the prevention of death by suicide. 

The symposium revealed a palpable sense of commitment and dedication among attendees toward tackling the pressing issue of suicide within the Marine Corps.   

Symposium participants included senior Marine Corps leaders, Suicide Prevention Program Coordinators and Officers, Religious Ministry Team personnel, Chaplains, family members, Marine Corps Community Services stakeholders, and embedded Integrated Prevention personnel. 

Headquarters Marine Corps staff from the Marine and Family Programs Division found the symposium to be invaluable and said participants shared a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in suicide prevention efforts, reinforcing the event’s role as a catalyst for positive change within the Marine Corps community and beyond.
